LIA scores high in nationwide math contest

As part of an effort to challenge our math-eager students, all LIA pupils of grades 5P, 6P and 7P were enrolled and participated in the first round of the nationwide Pangea math competition on Thursday, March 16th.

The competition aims to develop children's interest in mathematics and combines pleasure with deep thinking, logic and a bit of strategy.

Our young mathematicians did really well! One of them, Oscar Martel-Welsh, made it to the Swiss finals held in Renens (near Lausanne), where he competed against 80 other children of the same level on Saturday, May 13th.

The results were published on Saturday, June 3rd. Oscar finished in 46th position of the Swiss national competition, out of 476 participants. He had come 2nd in the preliminaries for French-speaking Switzerland. Way to go, Oscar!
